Supported
The Body list shows the Nikon bodies that the app can connect to through the included Nikon Remote SDK support. Choose the body that matches the camera connected by USB before you connect.
There are two Nikon Remote SDK modes:
- Legacy SDK mode uses Nikon's older body-specific Remote SDK modules.
- Nikon Remote SDK v2 mode uses Nikon's newer unified Z-series SDK path.
If your body is listed in both sections, you can use either SDK mode. Use Nikon Remote SDK v2 when possible because it uses Nikon's newer SDK path and is the most likely to receive current Nikon SDK updates for supported Z bodies. Use Legacy SDK mode when you are using a DSLR, when support asks you to compare SDK behavior, or when a specific workflow is proven better for your body in Legacy mode.
Legacy SDK mode
Legacy SDK mode currently supports these bodies:
D4, D4S, D5, D500, D5200, D5300, D5500, D5600, D6, D600, D610, D750, D780, D7100, D7200, D7500, D800, D800E, D810, D810A, D850, Df, Z5, Z50, Z6, Z6II, Z7, Z7II, Z8, Z9.
Nikon Remote SDK v2 mode
Nikon Remote SDK v2 mode currently supports these Z-series bodies:
Z9, Z8, Z6III, Z7II, Z6II, Z7, Z6, Z5II, Z5, Zf, Z50II, Z50, Z30, Zfc, ZR.
Bodies listed in both modes
These bodies are available in both Legacy SDK mode and Nikon Remote SDK v2 mode:
Z5, Z50, Z6, Z6II, Z7, Z7II, Z8, Z9.
For these bodies, start with Nikon Remote SDK v2 when possible. Switch to Legacy SDK mode only when you need to compare behavior, use a workflow that support has asked you to validate in Legacy mode, or work around a body-specific v2 issue.
If you are unsure which SDK mode to use, choose the mode that lists your body, connect the camera, and check the Log page if connection fails.
